Its distinctive open-arm silhouette gives the chair a friendly, recognizable character while creating an inviting place to sit and relax. The concept behind Hug is expressed most clearly through the outward position of its armrests, translating the familiar gesture of a hug into a sculptural piece of furniture. Claesson Koivisto Rune describes the design as an inviting gesture intended to communicate comfort and hospitality. Beyond its expressive silhouette, the Hug Low armchair is engineered for comfort. The seat and backrest use moulded polyurethane foam with a polyester slip cover, supported by elastic strap suspension. Its structure and base are metal, while solid wood detailing adds warmth and contrast to the upholstered form.

Features

Designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune for Arflex.

Originally designed in 2013.

Distinctive open-arm silhouette inspired by the welcoming gesture of a hug.

Metal structure and base.

Solid wood decorative details.

Moulded polyurethane foam seat and backrest upholstery.

Polyester slip cover.

Elastic strap suspension for seating support.

Adjustable plastic feet.

Available in multiple fabric and leather upholstery options from the Arflex collection.

Materials

Structure:
Metal.

Base:
Metal.

Seat & Backrest:
Moulded polyurethane foam with polyester slip cover.

Springing:
Elastic straps.

Wooden Details:
Solid wood, available in Canaletto walnut, wengé stained, oak, or chocolate finishes.

Feet:
Adjustable plastic feet.

Upholstery:
A broad selection of Arflex fabrics and leathers is available for the Hug collection.

Measurements

Low Version

Width: 84 cm / 33 in

Depth: 84 cm / 33 in

Height: 82 cm / 32.3 in

Seat Height: 44 cm / 17.3 in

These dimensions are particularly suitable for the product page because the metric specifications are independently listed as W 84 × D 84 × H 82 cm, seat height 44 cm.

Why Buy the Hug Armchair?

Iconic Design Concept – The chair transforms the universally recognizable gesture of a hug into its signature open-arm silhouette.

Designer Pedigree – Created by acclaimed Swedish architecture and design studio Claesson Koivisto Rune for Arflex.

Designed for Comfort – Moulded polyurethane cushioning and elastic strap suspension combine to create supportive upholstered seating.

Premium Material Combination – Metal construction, upholstered volumes, and solid wood detailing create a sophisticated mix of materials.

Customizable Appearance – Multiple upholstery choices and wood finishes allow Hug to be coordinated with different interior schemes.

Compact Designer Statement – At 84 × 84 cm, the Low Version delivers a strong visual identity without requiring the footprint of an oversized lounge chair.
