Designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune in 2013, the Hug Armchair (Low Version) is a piece of furniture that intentionally embodies a friendly and welcoming gesture. The designers stated that the collection is meant as a universal invitation: "Come, sit with me a while and I'll put you at ease." The chair's low back and deep, thin armrests angle gently outwards and upwards, creating the "open-armed" silhouette that gives the chair its evocative name and highly recognizable profile. The seating achieves exceptional comfort with its upholstered molded polyurethane foam, supported by an elastic strap suspension system. The deep, inviting upholstery sits on a structured, low-profile base, which is often a lacquered metal with subtle, integrated wooden details (available in finishes like Canaletto Walnut or Wengé), adding a touch of Scandinavian warmth to the Italian design. The low version of the armchair offers a more open, lounge-like feel, making it an elegant and relaxing statement piece for living rooms, lounges, or reception areas. The Hug Armchair perfectly balances refined Scandinavian minimalism with the sumptuous comfort expected of Arflex, making it an iconic and timeless choice.
