The Memo Nightstand, designed by Alessio Bassan for Capod’opera, is a sophisticated exercise in layering and depth. It is part of the "Memo" storage system, which is celebrated for its distinctive "stepped" architecture and the ability to combine multiple textures into a single, compact furniture piece. The Memo nightstand is defined by its interlocking volumes. Rather than a flat, monolithic front, the Memo features drawers with different thicknesses and heights that appear to be stacked or "pushed" into one another. This staggered aesthetic creates a rhythm of lines and shadows, making it a highly architectural addition to a luxury bedroom. The drawer fronts are not flush; they overlap and recede, creating a 3D relief. This allows for the use of multiple colors or textures on a single unit to highlight the different layers. The "steps" created by the overlapping panels serve as natural finger-pulls, eliminating the need for external handles and keeping the profile clean. The "Bottega" quality is evident in the perfect alignment of the staggered drawers, requiring high-precision CNC machining and hand-finishing to ensure smooth movement. The Memo nightstand is designed to be highly adaptable, available as a wide, low bedside table or a taller, more slender storage unit.
