The Quarantacinque Nightstand, designed by Silvano Pierdonà for Capod’opera, is a masterclass in geometric precision. Its name, Italian for "forty-five", refers to the technical signature of the piece: the perfect mitered joints that define its entire silhouette. The Quarantacinque Nighstand is the ultimate expression of minimalist architectural furniture. The design focuses on the "perfection of the edge." By machining the top, sides, and drawer fronts at an angle, Capod’opera creates a deep, continuous recess that runs along the entire perimeter of the unit. This "creek" or groove serves both as a sophisticated visual detail and a functional finger-pull for opening the drawers, allowing the facade to remain completely free of hardware. Every meeting point of the external panels is cut at a precise angle, resulting in a seamless monolith where the material appears to fold around the structure. It utilizes an innovative push-to-open system, combined with a perimeter groove, which emphasizes a "purist" aesthetic while ensuring smooth, high-end mechanical movement. To enhance its light appearance, the nightstand often features a recessed base with small, height-adjustable feet, making the solid volume appear to float just above the floor. Because of its flat, clean surfaces, this model is a favorite for Capod’opera’s 3D textures (like the "Track" or "Life" patterns), which transform the simple box into a sculptural object.
