The Bouroullec brothers designed Papyrus small armchair to be a study in contrast. While it is made from high-tech polycarbonate, the chair features a distinctive vertical ribbing on the exterior of the backrest. This "pleated" effect mimics the look of traditional reed or papyrus craftsmanship, giving the chair a soft, organic feel despite its industrial origin. The play of light through the ribbed surface creates shifting shadows and a sense of lightness that prevents the chair from cluttering a room visually.
