Unlike Cobonpue's signature open-air rattan or wire latticework, the Sage collection focuses entirely on the fluid beauty of draped textile work and organic contours. The silhouette of the Sage Side Chair captures the living, breathing essence of a botanical leaf. The chair's plush backrest features a central structural seam that acts like a leaf’s midrib. Delicate premium velvet is meticulously hand-stitched by skilled artisans, elegantly drawing and connecting each padded fabric fold into the center spine. The velvet fabric flows and drapes effortlessly over the hidden framework, tapering to a rounded point at the top like a sprout reaching for the sun. General Information
After spending years abroad, Kenneth Cobonpue returned to Cebu, Philippines, in 1996 to take over his mother Betty's furniture design and manufacturing company. Betty, who is a designer and a Pratt graduate, founded the company. Kenneth realized that modern design could be reinvented using natural fibers and materials. He began creating the pieces that now make up the collection by blending locally sourced organic materials with innovative handmade production techniques. This offered an alternative to the Western definition of modern design. He pays tribute to the talent of craftsmen, which forms the basis of the designs produced by KENNETH COBONPUE today. The company produces high-end indoor and outdoor furniture and furnishings known for their artistic imprint and unique visual impact. All creations skillfully integrate nature, traditional craftsmanship, and innovative technologies.
