Designed by Luisa Robinson for the renowned house of Kenneth Cobonpue, the Dragon’s Tail Table Lamp is an extraordinary union of childhood fantasy and high-design geometry. This sculptural masterpiece shifts effortlessly between a functional, warm ambient light source and an intriguing piece of modern art. The Dragon’s Tail Table Lamp is inspired by legendary childhood tales of knights and mythical, fire-breathing monsters. The lamp captures the auspicious power and motion of a dragon, reinterpreting its scales and tail into a fluid, sweeping curve. To achieve this intricate texture, artisans employ a technique heavily inspired by the traditional Japanese art of Origami. Numerous individual sections of specialty paper are folded by hand with geometric precision. These folded components are meticulously attached to one another, interlocking to form the curled, segmented "tail" that arches over a minimal, structural frame. When illuminated, the light filters through the layered, geometric folds of the paper, creating a beautiful gradient of shadows and warm, highly textured highlights that mimic glowing scales.

After spending years abroad, Kenneth Cobonpue returned to Cebu, Philippines, in 1996 to take over his mother Betty's furniture design and manufacturing company. Betty, who is a designer and a Pratt graduate, founded the company. Kenneth realized that modern design could be reinvented using natural fibers and materials. He began creating the pieces that now make up the collection by blending locally sourced organic materials with innovative handmade production techniques. This offered an alternative to the Western definition of modern design. He pays tribute to the talent of craftsmen, which forms the basis of the designs produced by KENNETH COBONPUE today. The company produces high-end indoor and outdoor furniture and furnishings known for their artistic imprint and unique visual impact. All creations skillfully integrate nature, traditional craftsmanship, and innovative technologies.
