Arflex has reissued the iconic Cross armchair, originally designed by architect Marcello Cuneo in 1974. The armchair is made up of two U-shaped tubes that are connected by a lightweight alloy joint. The seat and backrest cushions are carried by covers made of thick fabric that slips onto the two structures and also serves as a load-bearing element. The intuitive metal structure earned Cuneo a special mention at the XII Compasso d’Oro awards in 1979. The seat and backrest cushions are filled with goose down and covered in down-proof fabric, while the load-bearing structure is made of cowhide, fabric, or leather.
