If the Tyke bookcase is about lean stability, The 360° Chest of Drawers on wheels is its rebellious, caffeinated cousin. Designed by Konstantin Grcic for Magis in 2010, this piece completely reimagined what a "drawer" could be. Instead of pulling drawers out toward you, they pivot 360 degrees around a central vertical axis. It’s clever, slightly addictive to use, and arguably one of the most recognizable silhouettes in modern office and home design. You can swing multiple drawers out in different directions simultaneously, allowing you to see everything at once without digging. Because it rotates, it doesn’t have a "front" or "back." It’s just as effective placed in the center of a room as it is tucked into a corner. Mounted on five casters, it’s designed to be pulled right up to your desk or moved across the room as your workflow shifts. Perfect for stationery, tech cables, and hard drives that usually clutter a desk. Grcic originally envisioned this for "dynamic work," making it ideal for art supplies or architectural tools. Because the footprint is compact (approx. 32x46 cm), it provides vertical storage without eating up floor real estate. While it’s made of plastic, don't let that fool you. The "luxury" here is in the engineering and the Magis production quality. The rotation is smooth, the materials are durable, and it’s held in permanent collections at museums like the MoMA.
