The Aero sideboard, designed by Alessio Bassan for Capod’opera (2016), is a piece that evokes the fluidity of high-fashion drapery. It is defined by its signature "vertical wave" motif, which transforms a structural object into a tactile, sensory experience. The Aero sideboard collection is famously described as being "similar to a pleated haute couture dress." The wavy, fluted pattern is sculpted into the MDF doors and sides, creating a rhythmic surface that eliminates the need for handles or hardware. A continuous, vertically fluted texture that wraps around the front and sides of the unit, creating a shifting play of light and shadow. The sideboard typically features stacker sliding doors (folding-sliding) that open like a theater curtain, revealing the internal compartments in their entirety. The unit rests on a slender black metal frame (often 24–29 cm high) featuring adjustable feet in polished brass, adding a touch of mid-century Italian elegance. Capod'opera often finishes the interior in a contrasting color to the exterior, making the act of opening the unit a visual "surprise."
