Designed by Kenneth Cobonpue, the Gobi Dining Table is a striking tribute to the raw, untamed beauty of desert landscapes. Inspired by the wind-sculpted sand dunes and weathered rock formations of the Gobi Desert, this sculptural table turns a functional dining anchor into a powerful geological statement. The Gobi Dining Table plays with a beautiful, dramatic contrast between weight and transparency, earth and sky. The center pedestal base is a hand-carved, organic sculpture. Its heavily textured, dimpled surface mimics the parched earth and shifting sand dunes of the desert, finished in a rich, metallic copper-bronze patina that catches the light like the late-afternoon desert sun. Rather than using a heavy wooden or stone top that would conceal its magnificent base, the table is crowned with a thick, tempered clear glass top. This allows the intricate, undulating contours of the hand-sculpted pedestal to remain fully visible from every angle of the room. Each base is hand-formed and finished, giving the material a tactile, stone-like quality while maintaining the strength and stability of advanced composites and metalwork.

After spending years abroad, Kenneth Cobonpue returned to Cebu, Philippines, in 1996 to take over his mother Betty's furniture design and manufacturing company. Betty, who is a designer and a Pratt graduate, founded the company. Kenneth realized that modern design could be reinvented using natural fibers and materials. He began creating the pieces that now make up the collection by blending locally sourced organic materials with innovative handmade production techniques. This offered an alternative to the Western definition of modern design. He pays tribute to the talent of craftsmen, which forms the basis of the designs produced by KENNETH COBONPUE today. The company produces high-end indoor and outdoor furniture and furnishings known for their artistic imprint and unique visual impact. All creations skillfully integrate nature, traditional craftsmanship, and innovative technologies.
