The Lepid Console Table, designed by Patricia Urquiola is a captivating study of line and volume. Part of a modular family of storage and shelving, it is designed to look like a "freehand drawing" brought into three-dimensional space. The name and form of the Lepid Console Table collection center on the centrality of the profile. Urquiola uses a graphic language where the edges are the protagonists, creating a rhythmic play of overlaps and "voids." It is a piece of lightweight architecture that interprets space through fluid, continuous lines rather than heavy, solid masses. The design features a distinctive, through-dyed edge that contrasts with the main surfaces, creating an optical effect that defines the piece's silhouette. Its structure is based on a system of interlocking joints and calibrated overlaps, giving the console a sense of movement and spontaneity. Reflecting Kartell’s commitment to the environment, the Lepid is made from FSC-certified, melamine-faced recycled wood fiber panels. Available in an intense, sophisticated color range including Ivory, Burgundy, and Mustard, where the highlighted edge acts as the narrative star.
