The Apollo 9 Table Lamp is a cordless, rechargeable table lamp from MULTIFORME®’s Progressive Collection, designed by Romani Saccani Architetti Associati. It bridges futuristic Space Age 1970s aesthetics with Memphis Group postmodernism and Venetian Murano glass craftsmanship. The Apollo 9 Table Lamp is designed to resemble a lunar module or space capsule launched into space. The bell-shaped lampshade is hand-blown using the ancient Murano pulegoso technique, which traps thousands of tiny, irregular air bubbles inside the glass to mimic the cratered surface of the moon. The shade rests on three solid, transparent Murano glass cylinders inspired by Venetian briccole (the wooden mooring poles found in the Venice lagoon).
