The Marenco Sofa, designed by Mario Marenco for Arflex in 1970, is an iconic Italian seating system distinguished by its unique design and extensive modularity. More than five decades after its introduction, Arflex continues to describe Marenco Sofa as a must of contemporary furniture. Its unmistakable identity comes from the composition of generously shaped individual upholstered elements. The sofa combines substantial seat and backrest volumes with a discreet supporting structure, creating the distinctive appearance that has made Marenco one of Arflex's enduring designs. The collection includes sofas, armchairs, one-arm units, armless elements, corner units, island units and poufs. The construction combines metal, poplar plywood and birch plywood. The backrest uses elastic-strap suspension, while the structure and seat cushions are padded with shaped polyurethane in differentiated densities and polyester fiber. Arflex also offers a Soft version of the seat cushion. Black lacquered metal feet with protective black nylon glides discreetly support the sofa. Upholstery is available in fabric or leather, with fabric covers fully removable while leather versions are excluded from the removable-cover specification. With multiple sofa sizes and an extensive selection of complementary modules, the Marenco Sofa can function as an individual statement sofa or develop into a larger customized seating composition.
