The Balou Ottoman is another exceptional piece by Kenneth Cobonpue, designed to bring an immediate sense of comfort, warmth, and lighthearted luxury to a space. True to Cobonpue's signature style, it pulls emotional inspiration from his childhood—specifically named after Baloo, the gentle, plump bear from The Jungle Book. The Balou Ottoman is sculpted to mimic the feeling of a soft, cozy hug, encouraging you to kick your feet up and "do nothing" under the summer sun. The Balou Ottoman features a distinct, organic, softly rounded bean-like shape. Because the Balou collection is incredibly popular, Cobonpue manufactures it in two distinct structural builds depending on where you want to place it: Crafted using a beautiful mix of natural rattan and abaca (a sustainably sourced Philippine leaf fiber renowned for its strength) woven over a solid steel frame. Swaps the natural fibers out for an incredibly durable, UV-resistant synthetic polyethylene fiber. This variant is hand-woven in an open, geometric pattern over a powder-coated steel frame to withstand rain, salt air, and direct sunlight.

General Information
After spending years abroad, Kenneth Cobonpue returned to Cebu, Philippines, in 1996 to take over his mother Betty's furniture design and manufacturing company. Betty, who is a designer and a Pratt graduate, founded the company. Kenneth realized that modern design could be reinvented using natural fibers and materials. He began creating the pieces that now make up the collection by blending locally sourced organic materials with innovative handmade production techniques. This offered an alternative to the Western definition of modern design. He pays tribute to the talent of craftsmen, which forms the basis of the designs produced by KENNETH COBONPUE today. The company produces high-end indoor and outdoor furniture and furnishings known for their artistic imprint and unique visual impact. All creations skillfully integrate nature, traditional craftsmanship, and innovative technologies.
