Designed to mimic a dazzling night sky or a mini planetary system, it uses delicate structural balance to create a dramatic visual impact. The core concept of the Constellation Hanging Lamp 8 lamp relies on the delicate interplay between rigid metal lines and warm, organic textures: A central black powder-coated steel base acts as the "sun" of the fixture, anchoring a formation of slender steel rods that branch out like pendulums. At the tip of each rod sits a clear glass capsule lamp. These bulbs are intricately wrapped in woven Buri (the stiff, durable spines of palm leaves) and Abaca fibers. When illuminated, the woven palm leaf diffusers cast a warm, mottled, multi-directional glow, throwing celestial shadow patterns across the room while the rods appear to "orbit" silently beneath the ceiling.

After spending years abroad, Kenneth Cobonpue returned to Cebu, Philippines, in 1996 to take over his mother Betty's furniture design and manufacturing company. Betty, who is a designer and a Pratt graduate, founded the company. Kenneth realized that modern design could be reinvented using natural fibers and materials.
