Inspired by the wonder of 18th-century "cabinets of curiosities," the Curio Art Pendant Lamp is an illuminating work of art that challenges our perception of the natural world. Celebrated designer Kenneth Cobonpue has transformed rare, otherworldly specimens of nature into ethereal, modern lighting fixtures—capturing a sense of frozen motion and quiet mystery. A true cabinet of curiosities houses rare jewels and strange, beautiful keepsakes from far-off journeys. The Curio collection translates this concept into contemporary design. By stripping vibrant creatures from the avian, aquatic, and insect worlds of their solid surfaces, color, and natural texture, Cobonpue leaves behind a hollow, translucent ghost of form. Enclosed in minimalist, cylindrical glass-like frames and softly backlit, these immortalized sculptures appear to weightlessly float in mid-air. At the heart of each pendant is a vibrant creature—whether a delicate butterfly, a striking toucan, a textured coral, or a geometric beetle—painstakingly hand-formed by master artisans out of fine aluminum mesh wire. Each specimen is suspended inside a sleek, clean-lined cylindrical enclosure, striking a brilliant aesthetic balance between industrial modernism and organic surrealism. Instead of casting harsh, direct light, the Curio lamp utilizes a soft LED system positioned at the base of the enclosure. The light gently travels upward through the hollow mesh wire, illuminating the sculpture from within and casting intricate, delicate shadows across your space.

General Information
After spending years abroad, Kenneth Cobonpue returned to Cebu, Philippines, in 1996 to take over his mother Betty's furniture design and manufacturing company. Betty, who is a designer and a Pratt graduate, founded the company. Kenneth realized that modern design could be reinvented using natural fibers and materials. He began creating the pieces that now make up the collection by blending locally sourced organic materials with innovative handmade production techniques. This offered an alternative to the Western definition of modern design. He pays tribute to the talent of craftsmen, which forms the basis of the designs produced by KENNETHCOBONPUE today. The company produces high-end indoor and outdoor furniture and furnishings known for their artistic imprint and unique visual impact. All creations skillfully integrate nature, traditional craftsmanship, and innovative technologies.
