The Mirallmar mirror, designed by Eduard Samsó for BD Barcelona, is a radical departure from traditional mirror design. It is a masterpiece of deconstructivist aesthetics, originally launched for the "Casa Barcelona" exhibition during the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. Mirallmar (which translates to "Mirror Sea") is an assembly of seven independent mirrors arranged on a metallic "spine." Rather than a single, flat image, Mirallmar offers a fragmented, multifaceted view of the room—much like looking at reflections in a moving body of water. Eduard Samsó designed this piece as a playful critique of the "perfect" reflection. By separating the mirrors and placing them at different depths and angles along a zig-zagging iron spine, he created a piece of furniture that is never truly "finished." The exposed structure intentionally reveals the nuts and bolts, giving the owner a glimpse into the industrial logic behind its beauty.
