The Officina High Back Lounge Chair is built around one of the oldest metalworking techniques known to man: iron forging. By hammering red-hot iron, the Bouroullecs created a frame that feels ancient and modern simultaneously, where every "imperfection" from the hammer is a deliberate part of the design. The legs and support structure are made of wrought iron. Unlike factory-perfect steel, these frames have a "vibration" and a tactile surface that shows the mechanical traces of the tools used to shape them. To balance the heavy industrial base, the designers added massive, enveloping cushions. The high backrest provides a sense of seclusion and "nesting" that is rare in minimalist furniture. Magis successfully combined the skill of a blacksmith with modern industrial efficiency, making this a true luxury "hybrid" piece. The Officina High Back Lounge Chair is a "destination" chair. It’s too large and sculptural to be tucked away; it demands center stage. It works beautifully as a standalone reading chair. Pairing it with the Officina Ottoman (poggiapiedi) creates the ultimate lounging experience. The Bouroullecs often speak about "visual weight." Even though the cushions are bulky, the thin, hammered iron legs make the chair feel like it is standing on tiptoes, preventing the room from feeling crowded.
