The Robot Chest of Drawers is a drawer unit designed by architect Mario Botta in 1989. It is part of the Alias collection and will be featured at the Milan Salone del Mobile 2023. The unit is characterized by overlapping drawers connected by a metallic supporting structure, giving it the appearance of a column. The top part of the unit can be opened to reveal a writing desk. Made of ash solid wood with a colored stain finish and a black steel lacquered structure, the RobotChest of Drawers represents the concept of an object without a fixed shape, resembling a sequence of drawers stacked on top of each other. By removing some or all of its drawers in different combinations, the unit can take on various shapes, allowing for a creative interplay of compositions.
