The Samba Easychair is one of Kenneth Cobonpue’s most vibrant and energetic designs. True to its name, the chair captures the fluid, rhythmic movement of the Brazilian dance, translated into a sculptural form that feels like it’s frozen in mid-motion. The Samba Easychair is characterized by its undulating, wave-like edges and a wide, welcoming seat. It abandons the traditional boxy armchair shape in favor of a "curled leaf" or "swirling fabric" aesthetic. The design is intended to wrap around the user, offering a deep, ergonomic recline that is as much about relaxation as it is about visual drama. Like many of Cobonpue’s masterpieces, the Samba leverages high-tech materials applied with traditional hand-weaving techniques: The chair is crafted using polyethylene fiber hand-interwoven over a sculptural frame. This specific weave is dense yet flexible, giving the chair its signature textured "skin." A powder-coated aluminum frame provides the lightweight strength required to hold those complex, gravity-defying curves. It typically features a low-profile, minimalist metal base that allows the woven body of the chair to be the focal point. The seat features a custom-fitted, high-density foam cushion, usually upholstered in weather-resistant Sunbrella® fabrics, making it suitable for both high-end interiors and covered outdoor terraces.

General Information
After spending years abroad, Kenneth Cobonpue returned to Cebu, Philippines, in 1996 to take over his mother Betty's furniture design and manufacturing company. Betty, who is a designer and a Pratt graduate, founded the company. Kenneth realized that modern design could be reinvented using natural fibers and materials. He began creating the pieces that now make up the collection by blending locally sourced organic materials with innovative handmade production techniques. This offered an alternative to the Western definition of modern design. He pays tribute to the talent of craftsmen, which forms the basis of the designs produced by KENNETHCOBONPUE today. The company produces high-end indoor and outdoor furniture and furnishings known for their artistic imprint and unique visual impact. All creations skillfully integrate nature, traditional craftsmanship, and innovative technologies.
