Who designed the Vitra Slow Chair?
The Slow Chair was designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec in 2006.
What is the Slow Chair made of?
The chair combines a tubular steel frame with a precisely shaped knitted textile cover. Its base is made from die-cast aluminum.
Is the Slow Chair upholstered?
Rather than conventional full upholstery, the knit version uses a tensioned textile sling. It is complemented by a seat cushion and two backrest cushions containing recyclable polyurethane V-Foam and polyester fiber.
Is the knitted cover transparent?
Vitra describes the high-tech knit sling cover as translucent, which contributes to the chair's light and airy aesthetic.
Is the Slow Chair heavy?
Vitra describes its construction as lightweight and states that the chair can be easily picked up and moved around.
Is an ottoman available?
Yes. A coordinating ottoman is available for the Slow Chair.
Can the Slow Chair be used commercially?
The current official product specification recommends the chair for domestic use only.
